September 2019 Meeting

Come Attend CCDHHDB Quarterly Meeting

The Western Colorado Chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAAWCO) will NOT hold a meeting on Saturday, September 7th.
Instead, we encourage you to attend the quarterly meeting of the Colorado Commission for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deafblind (CCDHHDB).

The meeting will be Thursday, September, 5th, at the Center for Independence, 740 Gunnison Ave, Grand Junction.
The Commission business meeting is 4:00 – 6:00 pm.
From 6:00 – 7:00 there will be an open Forum to discuss the Outreach and Consultative Services Accountability Committee.

Come learn what the CCDHHDB does and can do for Coloradans with hearing loss.
Amy Becktell, the HLAAWCO Leader, is a Commissioner representing the late deafened, and has served on the Commission since 2012.

May 2019 Meeting

Living Your Best Life with Hearing Loss

This year the Chapter has shown several captioned videos at the meetings and discussed what we saw and heard.
This format has been successful and attendees have enjoyed the varied programs.
We continued to explore the topic of coping and resiliency when living with hearing loss and started the meeting with a quick 8 minute video on the topic of
living our character strength’s within life’s adversity available on You Tube at
Our feature video is one of many webinars found on the HLAA national website
Susanna Dussling shares personal stories, and will give suggestions on how to handle various situations successfully
whether you wear hearing aids or cochlear implants.
After this presentation, you will be empowered to live your best life.

Susanna knows adversity—she was born deaf, but lives in a hearing world. As a bilateral cochlear implant wearer, and former hearing aid user, she uses her experiences to teach us that, in spite of setbacks, it is possible to achieve success with a positive attitude.
She presents to groups, organizations, and corporations as a keynote speaker and trainer.

People of all ages and all types of hearing loss are welcome!
This free meeting is accessible to people with all types of hearing loss.
We offer real-time captioning and an induction loop system.
Family members and friends are invited to attend all meetings!
Refreshments will be served.
